At Building Br(A)ve Teams, our mission is to support families in building their own Br(A)ve Team following an unexpected medical diagnosis.
We firmly believe that storytelling and shared experiences are powerful tools for fostering resilience, strength, and unity.
Building Br(A)ve Teams understands the challenges faced by children affected by unexpected medical diagnoses. That's why we utilize the real life experiences of real people in our stories. Being a child immersed in the medical world consistently can be an overwhelming and frightening experience, often leading to traumatic outcomes. However, through our Br(A)ve Series of books, we aim to alleviate this fear by removing stigmas and empowering children to build their own Br(A)ve Team by teaching them who to look for and rely on in times of need!
What is a
team?
A Br(A)ve Team is made up of medical professionals, loved ones, neighbors, and even strangers who have supported and aided you during your challenging medical journey. These individuals are the cream of the crop, the top picks, and the kind-hearted heroes who help you navigate the toughest days… they put the “A” in Br(A)ve Team!

At age 4, my son Sage, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This devastating news changed our lives dramatically, as we were suddenly thrust into a world of medical treatments, hospital visits, and constant uncertainty about the long-term effects of the disease and its treatments on Sage's health and well-being.
Following the initial diagnosis, I began my search for supportive tools to prepare Sage for what was ahead, when I couldn’t find the right thing… I decided to write the story myself!
This venture was born out of the desire to prepare Sage for the future and equip him with the necessary tools and skills to face the obstacles that lie ahead. We wanted to build a support system and community of like-minded individuals who could uplift and empower not only Sage but other children and families going through similar experiences.
While the road ahead may still be uncertain, we are confident that with our Br(A)ve Team, we have equipped Sage and countless other children with the courage, resilience, and support necessary to face any challenges that may come their way.
Together, we will continue to build a strong and Br(A)ve community that empowers each other every step of the way!
